The Office of the Naval Inspector General
Audit Liaison & Follow-up Division conducts Audit Dispute Resolution between Department of Navy
(DON) management and
Naval Audit Service (NAVAUDSVC) auditors, provides
audit liaison between the Department of Defense
Inspector General (DoD IG) and the Government Accountability (GAO) and DON management, and reports semiannually to Congress via DoD IG on the
status of audit, inspection and investigative activities within DON.

The Audit Liaison & Follow-up Office mission is to provide audit
follow-up, liaison, and oversight of the actions taken by DON management to correct deficiencies identified in audit reports and
resolve disputed NAVAUDSVC reports. The Audit Liaison & Follow-up Division also
prepares and provides
semi-annual reports to Congress.
The primary areas of focus are:
The results of
these focus areas include the DON Semiannual Report of Audit, Inspection and
Investigative activities, the DON Semiannual Follow-up Status Report, and
the bi-monthly GAO/DoD IG Audit Status Report.
